Solar Steel participates in the construction of the first governmentally backed solar plant in Turkey

• The plant will have a total capacity of 10.2 MWp.
• This is the fifth Solar Steel’s solar project in Turkey for Phoenix Solar – Asunim customer.

Madrid, 22 June 2016.- Solar Steel, division of Gonvarri Steel Services dedicated to the design, manufacture and installation of solar structures, has been chosen by Phoenix Solar AG and its partner for the Turkish market, Asunim Yenilenebilir Enerji Teknolojileri İnş. Müh. San. Tic. Ltd. Şti., for the manufacture and construction of the steel structure of a new photovoltaic plant in Turkey.

The concession awarded by AKFEN Renewable Energy will be the first governmentally licensed photovoltaic plant to be built in Turkey. Counting with a total capacity of 10.2 MWp, its completion is scheduled for September 2016.

Phoenix Solar, a leading international photovoltaic EPC and O&M contractor and Asunim, its business partner in Turkey, formed a conglomerate to build the PV power plant with the expertise of Solar Steel in the design, manufacture and installation of the solar support structure. This is the fifth solar project Solar Steel awarded in Turkey by these customers confirming a strong relation between each other based on a strong presence of the company in Turkey.

This new project for Solar Steel will be added to the current portfolio of the company which is also participating in the construction and installation of the biggest project in the Middle East, named Dewa II, with a massive 260 MW PV power plant starting operation during the following months in Dubai.
